Transcendence

If life has taught me anything, it is summed up as transcendence. The act of going beyond the norm, surpassing believed or imposed limits and smashing past them. That it is, in that very act of breaking imagined limitations that we find ourselves in a state of truly living life. Not just surviving but thriving. Living your best life at your highest vibe and feeling more deeply into your authentic self and bringing it to surface and with each run through, more and more of that self becomes ever more apparent and present.

This isn’t just to do with our souls and spiritual lives but applies to all parts of our beautiful human incarnations. Sometimes it’s that job; guiding and finding the closure we have worked at, for a hellish project or deal, or befriending that coworker who can be prickly. Sometimes it is getting over a physical ailment, or an emotional or a situational ‘problem’ that keeps bringing us down. Something that may have seemed impossible to overcome and yet we do. Sometimes it takes many attempts and sometimes it seems like we accomplished this in a flash.

We are constantly changing or evolving and so is the world around us. That change is the act of transcendence. We are over coming not only the external world we navigate but also personally our own misconceived notions about ourselves, cooked up by our doubts and fears which in turn were cooked up with our interactions with the world and our limited perception and understanding of it.

The awestriking part is that there is always more to unfold, more to learn and more to grow. This is when you truly feel yourself in your own skin and far beyond it, connected to the cosmos, to the eternity of now, fully present, fully whole and fully accepting of all that you are.

Sometimes these are fleeting moments in our lives and sometimes we learn to ride the wave, jumping on and off as our attention takes us and then with each return, we learn to remain there just a little bit longer, till it just becomes an intentional way of life. Our attention now following our will. The bliss in being yourself so wholly encourages us to value that choice to remain zen no matter what we face within this mortal playing field. The series of conscious choices it takes to be zen and centred even when facing varying levels of adversity start becoming our preferred choices. The more we practice this, the more we learn to remain present and the more we are able to watch ourselves become who we really are beyond all the noise.

Don’t get me wrong, we fall off the proverbial ‘wave’ or ‘horse’ so very many times…we all do...but we get right back up and ride again and again and again. Each time the ‘again’ is a little different, just as is the horse and just as we are. Each time, we are a little more ourselves, till eventually we are masters in our own right.

Each level of mastery achieved helps us grow more and more into ourselves and with it come the new levels of learning, we are then aware of what else we must learn and in turn master and it is a fascinating life-long process.

We can understand this concept with ease when we watch babies grow. They have continual milestones that each must reach and progress through and on and on they go. With each level of growth, the baby must learn new skills such as walking or talking and will make countless errors on the way, each time fumbling and tumbling but then getting better until there comes a time these skills are seemingly automatic, as they have mastered that skill. Through each phase along the way, the new skills become more and more intricate as they progress into school and what is expected of them onwards into adulthood.

This is a simplified view of things, and it makes it even easier to understand because these milestones are predictable throughout the globe and across cultures, with very little variation. It also makes spotting trouble with reaching a milestone that much easier because even first-time parents are able to refer to various paths of knowledge, whether via family or doctors or guides and books on what to look out for at every stage of growth. So that they can find their baby the right tools to help them transcend onto the next milestone.

This view can be applied to each of us, at any given point in our lives. Some of us may be struggling with eating habits, others with emotional regulation, some with work-life balance, some with exercise, some with relaxation or ill health. Some with monetary lack or a lack of confidence. Others on a philosophical or spiritual level, where there is a level of ‘stuckness’. The list is endless.

It is this struggle that we face that will keep showing up in our lives, either because we are avoidant of it and just want it to go away or because we have not yet learned to approach it from a different perspective to help overcome or transcend it.

The truth is that it is there to teach us, to help us grow and once we accept that it isn’t bad or good but just there to help us gain some wisdom or find some balance, we can start facing it and mastering it so that we do truly transcend beyond it. There comes a point when we look forward to it, as it is no longer defined by us as difficult, uncomfortable, challenging or stressful but we view it as another pathway back to our wholesome and truly awesome selves.

We see it as the opportunity to level up and be more of the masters of our own lives that we were always meant to be. Sometimes we are able to achieve this mastery on our own and sometimes we require the help of others. There is no right or wrong way, it is just a matter of trying out new things that may work. If I come across a new way of doing something that excites me, I want to try it out to see if it is more efficient than the way I know how to do a thing and if it is I am happy to adopt the new way, if not it is a new skill that I can use at some point in my life, which helps me transcend to a new deeper and shinier version of the self.

We are all teachers and students. We are all here to learn together, from one and other and in that learning we each bring a unique ingredient, that of our personal experience, wisdom, knowledge and growth to add to the endless melting pot of transcendence on this beautiful planet, our mother Earth.

Ever evolving, ever transcending, that is our truest state, as it is hers.
